Tuscany is probably the most famous region in Italy, well known for its breathtaking landscape, the gentle hills, the corn and poppy fields and the typical cypress trees. Tuscany is not only nature. It offers a large variety of art, architecture and numerous museums, castles and medieval villages like San Giminiano, Volterra and Vinci, where Leonardo da Vinci was born. This is only to give an idea on the historical background of this area which houses treasures of high cultural value.

If you look at Tuscany from the sea, the first area you can see is the Versilia. It consists of more then 30 km of sandy beaches, where you will find the small town of Forte dei Marmi famous for its luxury fashion shops and trendy bars and restaurant, visited regularly by international VIP’s. In the background of Versilia, you can overlook on to the Alpi Apuane. These Alpes are home to the famous marble quarries of Carrara. For this reason it is fascinating the fact that all year round it looks as if the mountains are covered in snow.

Moving further into the centre of the region you find cultural cities such as Lucca, Pisa, Siena and Florence which are surrounded by charming landscapes. If we continue our journey further south, we enter the area called Chianti and the towns of Montepulciano and Radda, famous all over the world for its vineyards and incomparable red wine. Going north towards the town of Pistoia the Apennines spread out to the region of Emilia-Romagna with their highest point at 2000 m. This area is famous for its winter sports facilities.
